How the debt-free date is worked out

Each month, every bill gets a month of interest at its rate and its payment. Your extra goes to one bill at a time: the highest rate first (avalanche) or the smallest balance first (snowball). When a bill is cleared, its payment rolls onto the next. The date is the month the last one clears.

It is a plan, not a statement. Interest is worked out monthly rather than daily, a fixed rate is assumed to carry on after the fix ends, and a 0% card promo is counted until its end date. Your lender's figures are the real ones; update a balance from a statement whenever you like.

Bills in other currencies

Each bill stays in its own currency. Totals and the date are in your home currency, at the European Central Bank's reference rate for the day, or at a rate you lock for that bill in Settings so the total stays steady.

Logging payments

Open a bill and tap Log a payment. A payment adds the interest since the last one and then comes off the balance; anything above the minimum counts as an overpayment. A lump sum comes straight off. A new charge on a card goes on.

Reminders and App lock

Settings › Reminders sets a quiet reminder a few days before each bill is due. Settings › App lock asks for Face ID or your passcode when the app opens and after a minute away.

A new phone

Your bills come across with your iPhone's backup. You can also save a backup file from Settings › Backup & export and open it on the new phone with Restore from a backup file.

Deleting everything

Settings › Backup & export › Delete everything on this phone. Details are on the privacy page.

Debt Sorted does the arithmetic. It is not financial advice and does not move money; check anything important with your lender.
